A move away from AI hiring processes

While 2024 was predicted to be the year when AI really took over in the workplace, experts believe we will start to see a move away from AI and back towards human interaction, both in terms of recruitment processes and professional development.

“While employers and candidates have fully embraced the power of AI in the hiring process, in 2025, the swing back to the human element will be the most important trend in talent acquisition,” says Steve Knox, global head of talent acquisition at Dayforce. “Talent acquisition teams are currently relying heavily on AI for sourcing, screening and assessing candidates. In response, job seekers are leveraging the technology to write resumes, prep for interviews and even coach them on responses their during interviews. However, the tech approach to hiring processes can lead to a host of mismatches. In 2025, HR teams need to rethink the human element of their talent strategy to ensure they’re setting up their organisation and new employees for success.”

Laurel McKenzie, principal behavioural scientist at CoachHub, agrees, sharing that finding the right balance between AI and human interaction is a continuing challenge for businesses. “Empathy and human connection remain at the core of successful working relationships,” she tells Stylist. “It’s clear that AI in the workplace is not just a trend; it is a fundamental driver of long-term growth and innovation. However, there are elements that AI cannot fully replicate. While AI enhances efficiency, the value of human expertise and the nuanced understanding of individual experiences cannot be overlooked.”
