Dream job alert: Fancy getting paid to travel the world and take Instagram photos?

There’s nothing we love more than packing our bags and jetting off for sunnier climes. Well, other than posting all of the envy-inducing photos of our holiday to our Instagram, of course.

But, while we usually work hard all year round to earn the money we need to fund our wanderlust (all while desperately figuring out ways to maximise our annual leave allowance), it seems as if there’s a far more pleasant alternative on offer.

Fancy getting paid to go on a three luxury holidays?

Royal Caribbean International is offering an exciting new three week ‘intern-ship’, which will see their chosen explorer travel across three oceans.

Not only will the successful applicant enjoy all the perks of being aboard a luxury cruise ship, but they will also be treated to free food, drink, and flights – as well as £3,000 in cash.

Which, when you do the maths, all adds up to being the equivalent of a £52,000 salary.

If you’re lucky enough to be selected as their new “photographer, documentary maker, and storyteller”, Royal Caribbean International will ask you to document your travels on each of the different cruise ships.

This will involve posting three photos on Instagram each day, which will comprise of:

  • One view (can be of sea, port, horizon, or ship exterior / interior, facilities etc).
  • One extraordinary experience (ship based or land / excursion based).
  • One extraordinary person (can be someone met on board with an interesting story to tell, a crew member with a unique role or an extraordinary local person met during a shore excursion.

Royal Caribbean International would also like their new intern to go on a minimum of nine different shore excursions (yes, that’s right – they’re demanding you jump ship to enjoy gorgeous beaches, cultures, and restaurants). And, each time you do so, they want you to ask other Instagram users for recommendations on what to do in each new destination.

You’ve also got to make a video about your experiences, but that sounds more like fun than hard work.

If you’re tempted to take an extended break from your current job to apply for this dreamy three-week travel gig, then you’ll need to be a) 21 or older, b) own a smartphone, and c) on Instagram already – with a working knowledge of all their filters.

“Photocopying, administration, and tea-making skills are not required,” assures Royal Caribbean Cruises.

The travel company are only accepting applications via the social media platform, naturally; all you have to do is post your best travel picture and tag @RoyalCaribbeanUK with the hashtag #ExtraordinaryExplorer.

All photos will then be examined by a panel of judges, who will rank them using a number of factors, such as visual appeal, storytelling ability, originality, and inspirational qualities.

We'd wish you good luck, but, being as you'll probably be our direct competition for this one, we'll settle for a competitive glare across the internet instead...
