Bridal shower gifts: thoughtful, personalised and luxurious ideas for brides-to-be

This bridal shower gift guide is so pretty that we can’t promise you won’t want to purchase it all for yourself (and we’re not judging if you do).
If one of your best friends is getting married this summer there’s a strong possibility you’ll find yourself faced with attending a bridal shower, and struggling to find the perfect gift for it.
Although bridal showers were once considered more of an American event, we’ve seen them become increasingly popular in the UK, with more and more brides holding intimate gatherings for their close friends to celebrate before their weddings. Or, bridal parties throwing them as a smaller, more sentimental version of a hen do.
From a token that will help her remember her wedding day, to a thoughtful beauty saviour that she might not have remembered to treat herself to, there’s an art to picking the perfect bridal shower gift.
As far as we’re concerned bridal shower gifts differ to wedding presents because not only are they specifically for the bride, but they are given to her before the day itself, so should be something she can use in the run up to her wedding, the morning of the big day or on her honeymoon.
As with all the best gifts, our vote is with getting her something she wouldn’t usually splash out on for herself, because it feels extra special and preferably choosing something that has a sense of occasion to it.
Our fashion, beauty and lifestyle teams have put their heads together to think of some of the most thoughtful bridal shower gifts, to help you find something that will make your friend squeal with joy when she sees it.
Dora Larsen underwear set
London-based independent luxury lingerie brand Dora Larsen makes for the perfect wedding underwear for several reasons. The brand is created by a woman (and we’re always here for female-owned businesses), with the aim of creating ridiculously beautiful and stylish underwear that’s, wait for it, actually comfortable. So, for a bride with one of the longest days of her social life ahead of her, this factor we think is key.
It’s also a little bit different. We love the high waisted knicker options, the clashing colours and the whimsical bodies (which you definitely need to check out), as a romantic but cool alternative to classic white.
The above set is coming soon, but bra prices average at £50 and knickers between £30-40.
Google Pixel 3a
If your gang is looking to club together and get the bride to be something that will really impact her wedding experience, then we have an idea that will absolutely blow her veil off. The Google Pixel 3a is pretty much a planner’s dream, giving her access to Google Drive and therefore any spreadsheets, documents, pictures and contacts she’s been using to organise her big day.
The Google Pixel 3a is also known for its incredible camera and picture quality, which we’re sure she’ll love not only on the wedding day itself, but to make you all jealous with on the honeymoon.
Although this present is hefty in the price department, at £399 it’s more reasonable than most smart phones of its caliber and let’s face it, more exciting than pots and pans.
£399, Google
Jo Loves Rose Petal 25
There is no scent more synonymous with romance than roses, which is why they make such a wonderful perfume for a wedding day. And if you’re treating a friend to a perfume that will have her smelling of roses on her wedding day, then you’ll want to go to the master.
Jo Malone’s new fragrance for her Jo Loves brand celebrates 25 years of making fragrances, mixing rose de mai absolute, rose absolute and ambrette seed for a lingering scent that will last all day.
£70, Jo Loves
Instax camera
A wedding may be one of the most expensive events of a person’s life, but between the big white dress and the three course meal, what matters most is the memories. Although your friend is probably hiring a photographer for the day, there’s nothing quite like a cute camera to capture a special moment and by buying her this cute, white Instax one, she has something to document the honeymoon, too.
£79, Urban Outfitters
Estée Lauder sheet mask
An idea recommend by Executive Fashion Director Kitty McGee is getting the bride-to-be a particularly flashy face mask that she can use on the morning of her wedding.
It’s something she probably won’t have thought about, but will give her skin a moisture boost and will help her make-up to sit smoothly throughout the day. Our beauty team rave about this Estée Lauder sheet mask, which we awarded best sheet mask back in 2016.
£62 for four, Estée Lauder
Elemis eye mask
For beauty buffs, the only way of topping the face mask idea would be to add an eye mask into the mix. Our beauty team swear by Elemis for an instant boost for the under eye area, which your friend might be thankful for after a night of nerves.
£32.50 for six, All Beauty
Liberty London eye mask
Speaking of sleepless nights, this Liberty London eye mask should help her nod off, too. Not only is it an exquisitely beautiful gift to receive, it should come in handy for her honeymoon and catching some z’s on the plane.
£45, Liberty London
Mini Lunn dressing gown
This gorgeous, dusky pink satin kimono with delicately embroidered butterflies will make her feel special as she gets ready on the morning of the wedding, and is a lovely thing to be able to pack in her honeymoon suitcase afterwards.
£79, Not on the highstreet
Papier personalised writing paper
What better for her to write her thank you messages on after the onslaught of wedding gifts than some pretty, personalised writing paper?
We like the idea of either personalising it with her new name, or simply signing it off ‘The Jacksons,’ for example.
£31.99 for 20 sheets, Papier
Kate Spade Mrs earrings
Sometimes you can’t beat a bit of sparkle. Kate Spade does some gorgeous bride-focused jewelry but we particularly like these cute earrings that could be the perfect addition for her big day look.
£55, Kate Spade
Le Labo fragrance with personalised label
Le Labo is the fragrance brand du jour, so we’re sure any bride-to-be would be more than happy to receive a bottle before her big day. But what we particularly love about their service is that each bottle can have the date and name of the person it’s for customised.
Pop in the date of her wedding day and her new name on it for an extra special touch.
from £57, Le Labo
Luggage personalisation stickers
As a little nod to her honeymoon, these luggage stickers from in-vogue luxury luggage brand Away are ready for her to peel off and stick on her case en route to the airport with her new initials.
£15 each, Away
