A fan of karaoke, Stylist’s guest editor Adwoa Aboah is ever-keen to try out new spots. “I’m always searching for a new karaoke place,” she says. “I’ve been to all the shitty places. You should have one where you can invite a few people.”    

Over the years, we’ve discovered the best places to belt out a tune are the venues that involve another activity. Singing in a restaurant feels so much more like being in a scene from a movie than being in a private booth. 

London’s Bunga Bunga in Battersea is the best for this. The kitsch-filled pizzeria starts handing out karaoke menus at 10pm, encouraging diners to get up on stage. Like the pizza, the song list is cheesy but good. 

In Glasgow, on Thursdays, Speakeasy bar transforms into the venue for Carry On Karaoke, hosted by Nancy Clench, aka Nathan Sparling, a senior political adviser for the Scottish National Party.

And, if you fancy a late one in Manchester, K2 Karaoke is a nightclub and karaoke bar that stays open until 3am Sunday to Thursday and 4am on weekends.

So what is Adwoa’s go-to karaoke track? “My karaoke song is Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush,” she tells Stylist. We’ll see you out on the wild and windy moor.
