Take a look inside the world's smallest home library

Some people dream of living in great big mansions. Others find joy in making their tiny homes work just for them.

That's the brief Tim Seggerman, a New York based architect, received from an anthropology professor who wanted to maximise the space in her 240-square foot apartment in New York City.

Inspired by a one-room West African hut she lived in in the 80s, the owner of the apartment wanted to prove that it's possible to make a tiny Manhattan space practical and comfortable.

With hundreds of books crammed into the Upper West Side shoebox apartment, Seggerman found a genius solution. He designed a cosy cubby that serves as a library.Built to match the client’s measurements, the micro-library allows the professor to crawl into the space, sit comfortably, browse through her books and even read in it.

It's conveniently situated next to her bed and wraps around the back end of the apartment.

We've got serious apartment-envy. After all, as Plato once said: "A house that has a library in it has a soul". Take a look at one of the world's smallest home library below.
