Denim décor

According to Etsy’s 2024 Trend Predictions, denim is going to be a big interiors vibe this year. From rugs to throw pillows to tablecloths, this bold blue fabric is where it’s at.

Wallpaper

As journalist and interiors expert Kate Watson-Smyth told us: “The trend for wallpaper has been gathering pace for some time now as we cast off the minimalist grey years. I see two big ideas for next year. The first is mural wallpaper. The second is wallpapering the ceiling.”

Goodbye gallery walls

Sorry to anybody who’s just perfected their wall of pictures, because Etsy says gallery walls are out in 2024, since the platform has already seen a 16% decrease in searches for gallery wall-esque items. Instead, people are interested in things like big frames and even tapestries. 

Cafécore

According to the latest Pinterest Predicts report, searches for ‘coffee bar styling’ on the platform are up by a very impressive 1,125%, while searches for ‘coffee station décor’ ‘and café aesthetic’ have increased by 145% and 820% respectively. So it seems our obsession with teas and coffees is set to spill into our home décor.

Western gothic

Speaking of Pinterest Predicts, the numbers crunched also indicate that a Western gothic vibe is about to descend. Think moody, vintage Americana, with deep, dark fringes and paint colours galore. 

Berry

No, not actual berries, but the colour berry is going to be everywhere this year. At least that’s according to Etsy, which has named it the colour of the year. A delicious jewel-toned shade that blends deep blues and reds, think of it as a grown-up, romantic alternative to the Barbiecore pinks of 2023. 

Big bathroom statements

No longer are bathrooms going to be an afterthought in our homes, according to Etsy. This year, we’re going big and we’re going bold in the loo, with search for things like ‘punchy bathroom art’ up 21%, ‘standout vanity lights’ up by 13% and bold accents like ‘standout wall hooks’, for which searches have more than doubled.

Kitschens

Another thing on Pinterest’s list of 2024 predictions is the kitschy kitchen, with vintage and thrifted finds and striking colour pops of paint taking things far and away from minimalism.
