If 2022 was the year of coastal grandmother-inspired interiors, 2023 is all about nonnacore.

This summer, we’re taking our homeware cues from some unlikely interiors influencers: Italian grandmothers.

Nonnacore is a décor trend that’s all about channelling the mismatched, retro aesthetic that you’d expect to find at Casa Nonna. Think clashing maximalist prints, hand-painted ceramics and delicate glassware.

Part of the charm of the Italian nonna aesthetic is rooted in its lived-in feel: it’s about finding future classic pieces that you’ll want to hang on to for years (and use them for al fresco dinners for decades to come).

Want to bring a bit of nonnacore charm to your space? Here are some of our favourite buys.
