Want to know what’s trending ahead of this festive season? From all-natural decor to chrome accents, these are the biggest interiors trends for Christmas, according to Etsy.

When it comes to Christmas, what do you look forward to the most? The food, the gifts, or the fact that we’re able to turn our spaces into miniature winter wonderlands with just a few interiors tweaks? For me, it’s the latter; you’ll always find me dutifully decorating my tree with every ornament I can get my hands on the minute December hits.

So if, like me, you’re already thinking about your festive aesthetic, you’re probably wondering what the season’s biggest styles are. Thankfully, Etsy has just released its annual holiday trends report, highlighting all the major decor and gifting trends we need to know about.

From castle-inspired interiors to the search term that’s up by 3,000%, this is your guide to seamless Christmas decorating.

Chrome-mas

Chrome interiors have been a huge trend throughout 2024, so it’s no surprise that space-age chic is continuing into the festive period. After all, Christmas really is the season for all things shiny: searches for chrome decor are up by more than 3,000% according to Etsy, so whether it’s delicate trinkets or cocktail glasses, the high-shine finish will have you glowing brighter than the star on top of your tree. If you’re not ready to go full-on space cadet just yet, fear not. Ease yourself into the trend with more subtle chrome accents like sleek trays or metallic ornaments that add instant cool to cosy holiday decor.

Mythical medieval

Who doesn’t want to feel like they’re dining in a castle on Christmas Day? Think rich, dramatic fabrics like velvet and faux fur paired with fantasy-inspired elements such as folklore motifs and goblet glassware. Festive jewel tones also take centre stage with this trend: deep sapphire blues, rich ruby reds and emerald greens. Whether you’re hosting a feast or simply want to elevate your space, this trend will make your holidays feel straight out of a storybook.

Pastoral prints

Are you ready for a cowboy Christmas? Originally spotted on the runways, the Western trend has quickly made its way into our homes and wardrobes – and it’s here to stay. As people seek fresh ways to express their individuality, the rustic charm adds warmth and depth, making it a perfect fit for festive decor as well as thoughtful gifting. From statement rugs to snuggly accessories like cushions, throws and even stockings, it offers a touch of ‘yeehaw’ in a stylish, understated way.

Charmed life

Searches on Etsy for charm necklaces may be up 150%, but this season, charms aren’t only reserved for jewellery. When decorating, get creative and add charm accents like initials or astrological signs to stockings, wrapping, tree ornaments or even place settings.

Heirloom era

In a world of fast fashion and fleeting trends, it’s time for us to enter our heirloom era, in which timeless treasures and vintage-inspired finds steal the spotlight. Whether it’s hand-embroidered napkins, jewellery steeped in history or patterned porcelain dishes, this trend celebrates meaningful items meant to be passed down (or just looked at adoringly).

Nature reborn

From upcycled wood pieces to dried fruit displays, embrace this trend by celebrating the beauty and tranquility of nature. Perfect for the eco-minded shopper, these gifts and decor items bring the calm and simplicity of the outdoors inside, creating the peaceful, grounded festive atmosphere we’re all after.
