After the trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie proved that life in plastic really is fantastic, here’s how to channel Barbiecore at home.
When the trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie dropped earlier this month, we were immediately obsessed.
Sure, our interest was already piqued thanks to the casting of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as plastic-fantastic couple Barbie and Ken, but this brief teaser proved that Gerwig’s latest project looks set to be one of the most anticipated films of the summer. Carefully choreographed dance sequences? Issa Rae as President Barbie? Helen Mirren as the narrator? Sign. Us. Up.
Something else that grabbed our attention? The way the truly immaculate production design brings the Barbie Dream Homes of our youth to life in technicolour glory.
It’s inspired us to start hunting down some Barbiecore-inspired interiors picks of our own, but rather than looking for direct recreations of Barbie favourites, we’ve sought out some more grown-up takes on nostalgic styles. Happy shopping…
