‘Tis still the season, after all, and what better way to ring in the new year than with some stunning cocktails?
Snow globe-style drinks have been going viral on social media for a while now, with TikTok clips showing how that Christmassy boozy magic happens getting as many as millions of views apiece.
The idea is that, with some clever use of ice, berries, rosemary and some edible glitter, you can transform a cocktail into a sparkly snowy scene in a glass.
If you want to try your hand at making some of these to sip while ringing in the new year, then you’re in luck, because interior stylist, author and cocktail aficionado Siobhan Murphy has shared her recipe.
How to make a Gordon’s London Dry & Tonic Snow Globe
Ingredients:
- 50ml Gordon’s London Dry Gin (or swap out for Smirnoff Original, Ciroc Original, Seedlip Grove 42 or Tanqueray London Dry Gin)
- 150ml tonic water (or your mixer of choice)
- Fresh rosemary
- Handful of cranberries
- Twine and cocktail stick
- Edible glitter for extra snow globe greatness
- Glass tumbler
Method:
Fill the bottom of your tumbler with a couple of centimetres of water and add in garnishes of your choice, such as a few cranberries, to create a festive scene.
Using twine, attach a spring of rosemary to a cocktail stick and suspend the sprig of rosemary in the glass, with the bottom of the sprig in the water. Place in the freezer for an hour until the water is frozen.
Once the water is frozen, remove the twine and cocktail stick so the rosemary is upright in the glass, resembling a Christmas tree.
Add your 50ml Gordon’s London Dry Gin and 150ml tonic water, and for a real snow globe effect, sprinkle in some edible glitter and enjoy!
