Every Christmas chocolate selection box ranked, from worst to best

Who wins in the battle of Quality Street v Heroes? Stylist presents a controversial yet conclusive ranking of Christmas chocolate selection boxes.

The humble Christmas selection box fills homes and hearts with joy as soon as they hit the supermarket shelves in early October, but it’s true that each has its own distinct flavour and appeal. The more traditional among us tend to favour a stalwart like Quality Street, with its festive wrapping and classic flavours. On the other hand, a luxurious Lindt mix is a great way to quick off the festive season, as is a simple yet nostalgic Cadbury selection box. But with so many glorious options, which would reign supreme?

Naturally, the few of us left in the office this close to Christmas decided to put the nation’s favorite selection boxes head-to-head. Doesn’t everyone love Celebrations? How popular is Lindt really? Would Roses sink or swim?

Curious? Read on to see how they fared.

6. Quality Street

Coming in last place is Quality Street, much to the dismay of some Stylist staffers. There are some standouts (hello, The Green Triangle) but clearly the joyful wrapping doesn’t make up for the apparently mediocre chocolate that lies beneath. Thank you, next.

5. Cadbury Selection Box

A childhood favourite, the Cadbury Selection Box ranked lower than some of us suspected. Clearly, a cardboard sleeve filled with Wispas, Dairy Milk Buttons and Double Deckers doesn’t quite have enough shine for the top spot.

4. Lindor

White chocolate, hazelnut, orange, salted caramel: there are plenty of flavours to pick from when it comes to Lindt’s Lindor truffles, making them a worthy fourth place pick.

3. Roses

Perhaps the most controversial placement of all, Cadburys Roses divided the office. Half of us loved them, half of us hated them, which explains how they landed firmly in third place.

2. Celebrations

There’s no denying that a tub of Celebrations is pretty much synonymous with the festive period. In light of this, second place feels fair. Congratulations to all who secretly love a Bounty.

As for the best Celebration of all time, you best believe we’ve ranked that too…

1. Heroes

And the winner is…Cadbury Heroes. It’s no surprise, really, seeing as it contains mini versions of some of our favourite chocolates, including Crunchie, Twirl and Dairy Milk.

An all-rounder that will suit every kind of sweet tooth, the purple box takes its rightful place at the top of the leaderboard. True Heroes, indeed.
