Turn your lunchtime routine into a special occasion with these great-value set menus across the city.
When you’ve been looking forward to your lunch break all morning, it’s more than a little dispiriting to remember that all you’ve brought from home is a lacklustre sandwich. While everyone else on the internet might be talking about the importance of a ‘little afternoon treat’ or a 3pm Diet Coke, we at Stylist believe in the power of reclaiming your lunch break, and sometimes that should start with something delicious, filling and maybe a bit fancy.
So if you’re looking for something special for lunch, why not treat yourself to a set menu at one of the capital’s best eateries? After all, lunchtime dining is often when the best deals can be found, whether that’s at a popular neighbourhood haunt or a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Here, we’ve rounded up eight of the best. Anyone else really hungry all of a sudden?
Bocconcino
Address: 58-59 Great Marlborough Street, W1F 7JY
Fallow
Offering a three-course weekday set menu for £42, sustainable hotspot Fallow is a great option for lunch out. Try its signature mushroom parfait or opt for braised spring lamb, glazed carrots, parsley and lamb sauce as a large plate option.
Address: 2 St James’s Market, London SW1Y 4RP
Kapara
Address: 13-24 Greek Street, Soho, W1D 4DP
UBA
In the heart of Shoreditch you’ll find UBA, a pan-Asian dining spot that has designed a menu set to make lunchtimes a whole lot livelier. Try the Express Lunch (£19pp), where highlights include Korean crispy chicken, rock shrimp tempura, spicy aubergine and spinach dim sum, and Tokyo corn with wasabi furikake.
Address: 61 - 67 Great Eastern Street, London EC2A 3HU
Tendril
At this ‘mostly’ vegan restaurant, you’ll find courses that include smoked aubergine parfait, crispy leek fritters and Tendril tiramisu – all for £35. Take a hungry friend with you and thank us later.
Address: 5 Princes St, London W1B 2LQ
Murano
Want a taste of fine dining without the hefty price tag that comes with an evening visit? Well, you’re in luck. Chef Angela Hartnett’s flagship Michelin-starred restaurant serves up an exquisite Italian set menu that includes veal ragu, tomato risotto with burrata, and brown crab cacio e pepe tagliolini. Two courses cost £50, with three available for £55.
Address: Queen St, Mayfair, London W1J 5PP
Chotto Matte
Blending Japanese and Peruvian flavours, the bento box set menu at Chotto Matte (£30) is the perfect lunchtime option. Our pick is the sea bass Nikkei Sashimi, which comes with cherry tomatoes, jalapeño, coriander and yuzu truffle soy.
Address: 26 Paddington St, London W1U 5QY
Mildreds
Plant-based favourite Mildreds might well offer one of the best-value set menus in the capital. For just £22, it includes three courses, with vibrant dishes like kimchi gyoza, tofu makhani curry, and a white chocolate tiramisu to finish. It’s only available from Monday to Friday, so make it a mid-week treat.
Address: 9 Jamestown Road, NW1 7BW
