From barbecue feasting and bright salads to the flavours of Northern Mexico, here are the summer-inspired cookbooks that’ll be gracing our kitchen shelves.
If, like me, you’re cookbook obsessed, it’s likely your bookshelves are heaving under the weight of your collection, your favourites splashed with nondescript sauces and pages turned at the corners so you’ll never lose your most-beloved recipes. Many of mine are lovingly scribbled on, the margins filled with notes of changes I’ve made when I’ve run out of an ingredient, or reminders to cook for a little longer because my home oven is knackered.
With summer edging nearer, it’s time to transition from winter-inspired meals to dishes more suitable for sunnier climes, from refreshing salads, and barbecue feasts to recipes inspired by our favourite exotic locations.
Here are 12 brand-new cookbooks that are sure to transport you far, far away from your kitchen…

It’s finally set to return to bookshelves with a new print, containing over 1,000 recipes (1,080 to be precise), paying homage to traditional Spanish cooking. A true coffee table cookbook if there ever was one.

Described as “the soul of Mexico dancing on your plate”, expect dishes such as Camotes en Tacha (sweet potatoes in syrup) and Pulpo a las Brasas (grilled octopus in a smoky adobo sauce).
