Sangria is having a moment – here’s everything you need to enjoy the cocktail this summer

Fill your cup with sweet, fruity goodness: sangria season is finally here.
Forget the Hugo spritz, paloma or spicy marg: sangria has always been the undisputed drink of the summer. And its reign is far from finished. According to Pinterest, sangria is the cocktail of the moment with searches having doubled in the past three months.
Of course, it’s easy to see why. Citrusy, refreshing and with just a little hint of spice, a good sangria is the perfect drink to share among friends in the sunshine. But even if you’re not jetting off to Barcelona, Seville or Valencia any time soon, you can still enjoy the cocktail of the season in all its fruity glory.
Not only are there plenty of great tapas spots in the city that serve it by the jug (we recommend Ember Yard’s tapas brunch – complete with 90 minutes of bottomless sangria – or an after-work trip to award-winning Copita in Soho), but it’s also easy to enjoy at home.
From delightful cans and pre-mixed bottles to the perfect carafe for serving, here is your ultimate guide to a sangria summer. Vamos!
Lolea No 1 red wine sangria
Summery in both liquid and design, Lolea’s sangria uses fresh juices and wine with a light fizz. Keep yours in the fridge and pull out for picnics in the park or an aperitif before dinner.
Solsueno sangria can
Creating the perfect balance of citrus and cinnamon, Solsueño produces its sangria in the province of Murcia and from the classic Spanish tempranillo grape variety. The result? The ultimate canned beverage to quench your summer thirst.
Sangría Viña Zancara
A drink designed to bring people together on long, hot days, you can’t go wrong with this delicately spicy blend.
