Looking for the best burritos in London? Or somewhere that makes a mean margarita? These are 7 of the best Mexican food spots for spring dining.
Fiery tacos. Barbacoa that falls off the bone. Nachos dripping in cheese and freshly-chopped salsa. Mexican food is always a good idea, but especially so in spring.
So if you’re craving churros, enchiladas or fajitas but don’t know where to book, we have you covered. From Exmouth Market hotspot Taqueria to Leytonstone’s very own Homies on Donkeys, here are seven of our favourite Mexican restaurants in London.
1910 Cantina
Address: 3 Ramsden Rd, London SW12 8QX
Mestizo
If you’re looking to expand your Mexican palette and try something new, Mestizo is the place to do so. Bypass the (still delicious) nachos and tortillas for a succulent Mole Poblano, aka boneless chicken breast served in traditional mole sauce made with dried chillies, almonds and a host of secret spices.
Address: 103 Hampstead Rd, London NW1 3EL
Homies On Donkeys
If cult east London spot Homies On Donkeys isn’t already on your radar, it certainly should be. Offering Mexican food with a Tijuana twist, its goal is to make the best tacos and margaritas you’ll ever try. And it succeeds.
Address: 686 High Rd Leytonstone, Bushwood, London E11 3AA
Taqueria
Address: 8-10 Exmouth Market, London EC1R 4QA
Viva Mexico
You’ll be hard-pressed to find more authentic street food than Viva Mexico, Green Lanes. Menu highlights include tasty beef barbeque burritos and soft empanadas.
Address: 875 Green Lanes, London N21 2QS
El Pastor
Address: 66-70 Brewer St, London W1F 9UP
Santo Remedio
You might struggle to get a seat at Michelin-starred Santo Remedio, but braving the queue is always worth it. It serves regional Mexican dishes, from seabass cooked over a wood fire grill to short rib with Oaxacan mole, as well as an extensive selection of Mexico’s best tequilas and mezcals.
Address: 152 Tooley St, London SE1 2TU
