We all know how important it is to look after our hearts, but when you’ve got a million and one things on your mind, it’s easy to lose sight of the simple things that can make a real difference. Add to that the fact that women are twice as likely as men to die from coronary artery disease (the leading cause of heart attacks), at least in part due to stark inequalities in awareness, diagnosis and treatment, and it’s important that we take time to look after our hearts and know what makes them happy. So we asked a cardiologist to talk us through five common habits that women should avoid to optimise heart health.
