This year’s Netball Super League Grand Final is set to be the biggest yet. Here’s what to expect when the action goes down this weekend (including where you can watch from home).
With England’s final group stage match at the Euros officially done and dusted, it’s time for the excitement to ramp up over in Germany. But back home, there’s another brilliant sporting competition to keep your eye on this weekend – the Netball Super League’s (NSL) grand final.
Taking place at Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena on Saturday 29 June, the two-part final will see Severn Stars and London Pulse go head-to-head in a third place play-off before top-of-the-league Manchester Thunder face Loughborough Lightning in the final match.
Whether you’re a seasoned netball fan, play it socially with friends or haven’t touched a netball since your school years, it’s going to be a fantastic weekend. Here’s why you should get involved.
1. You can see some of the world’s best netball talent on display

The Netball Super League is the UK’s top-level netball competition, featuring 10 teams from across England, Wales and Scotland. As such, some of the best-of-the-best will be taking to the court at the weekend to battle it out for the prestigious Super League title.
Some names to keep an eye out for include England Vitality Roses and Manchester Thunder players Imogen Allison and Natalie Metcalf, the latter of whom has delivered the most feeds (when a player passes the ball from outside the goal circle to a goal attack or goal shooter) of all NSL players this season.
South Africa’s Shadine Van Der Merwe, who also plays for Manchester Thunder, boasts the second-most intercepts this season at 29.
When it comes to Loughborough Lightning, few players are so exciting as Uganda’s Mary Cholhok, who leads the way with goals scored this season at 925 – a massive 193 goals above Seven Stars’ Sigi Burger in second place. Vitality Roses’ Beth Cobden and Alice Harvey are also part of the impressive squad, taking on the positions of WD/GD/C and GK/GD respectively.
2. You could be part of a record-breaking moment
Last year’s NSL Grand Final was a sold-out event, but this year the league is aiming to go one better with a record-breaking crowd. And the best bit? Tickets are still available.
If you can’t make it, you could still see a record broken by watching at home. If they manage to take home the win, Loughborough Lightning will become just the fourth team to lift the trophy in back-to-back seasons, while Manchester Thunder would achieve a record-equalling fifth title if they were to win.
3. The netball isn’t the only entertainment on offer

It wouldn’t be an England Netball event without plenty of extra entertainment on offer. If you’re attending in person, this year’s event will certainly keep you busy; some of the activities on offer as part of your ticket include exclusive giveaways, face painting and a pop-up netball court outside the arena.
Merchandise and match-day programmes will also be for sale, and there will be player meet-and-greet opportunities and branded photobooths and stands to get involved in. There will also be performances from Marshon Dance Company, Voice of the Town Choir and DJ Jodie P before, during and after the matches.
Tickets for the Netball Super League Grand Final are available online now. You can tune in to the Netball Super League Grand Final on Sky Sports Arena and YouTube.
