From a brand new tennis tournament to the Rugby World Cup, here are some of the key women’s sporting moments to look forward to in 2025.
You don’t need to be a fan of women’s sport to know just how much it’s grown over the last couple of years. Attendance records have been broken, participation has increased across the board and women in sport are being recognised and celebrated more than ever (the last four winners of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award were women, marking the first time it’s ever been won by four women consecutively).
But the growth of women’s sport is nowhere near over, and as we head into 2025, things are set to get even bigger and better. Sadiq Khan has already declared that London will be the “undisputed global capital” for women’s sport this year, with loads of events across different disciplines taking place right here in the capital. And around the world, there will be plenty of other women’s sport to enjoy, including major tournaments.

The Women’s Ashes
Heather Knight’s team will be vying to win the Ashes for the first time since 2014 when they head to Australia this month. The contest, which is split across three formats, will end with a one-off, four-day Test match in Melbourne from 30 January to 2 February.
When: 12 January – 2 February
Where: Australia
How to watch: The series will be broadcast live on TNT Sports and Discovery+.
Guinness Women’s Six Nations
Before the England women’s rugby team competes to take home the World Cup later this year, they’ll be in action in the Guinness Women’s Six Nations. The tournament, which sees England compete against Italy, France, Ireland, Wales and Scotland, will see the teams in action at stadiums across the UK and Europe. England will be hoping to take home their fourth consecutive win.
When: 22 March – 26 April
Where: Various locations
How to watch: Tickets for matches are now on sale, starting from £20 for adults. The matches will be shown live on BBC Sport.
Cinch Championships Women’s WTA 500
2025 will see women’s tennis return to London’s Queen’s Club after 50 years with the introduction of a new Women’s WTA 500 event. Taking place in the week after the French Open, the tournament will give London tennis fans a chance to see their favourite players in action ahead of Wimbledon.
When: 7–15 June
Where: The Queen’s Club, London
How to watch: Tickets for the event are set to go on sale early this year, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed. The TV schedule is still to be announced.
Uefa Women’s Euros
England and Wales will be in action this summer as the women’s Euros kick off in Switzerland. As the reigning champions, England’s Lionesses will be hoping to reclaim their title. But with World Cup winners Spain on their tail, it’s set to be a close competition. They’ll have to get out of the group stages first; England and Wales start in the same group as the Netherlands and France, both of which will be tricky to beat.
When: 2–27 July
Where: Switzerland
How to watch: Matches will be shown on the BBC and ITV.
Netball Super League Grand Final
For the first time ever, the Netball Super League Grand Final will be taking place at the O2 Arena, marking a huge milestone in the sport’s growth. Last year, Loughborough Lightning beat four-time champions Manchester Thunder to claim the Super League title. But with this year’s league starting on 8 March, anything could happen.
When: 6 July
Where: O2 Arena, London
How to watch: The date when tickets will be on sale for the final is still to be announced, although you can already buy tickets for games earlier in the season. The final will be shown live on Sky Sports, while the rest of the season will be broadcast across Sky Sports and the BBC.
Vitality Blast T20 Women's Finals Day
Women’s cricket will take centre stage in London this summer as the first Vitality Blast Women’s Finals Day takes place at the Oval. The day will see the top three teams from the group stage in action; the first-placed team will progress straight to the final, while the second- and third-placed teams will first play in an eliminator to decide who takes part in the final game.
When: 27 July
Where: Kia Oval, London
How to watch: Tickets for the event are now on sale, starting from £13 for adults. The finals day will be broadcast on Sky Sports and BBC Radio.
Women's Rugby World Cup
At the end of summer, England will become home to the Women’s Rugby World Cup, marking the first time the tournament has been held here since 2010. The final, which will be held at Twickenham, is expected to excess the previous attendance record set when England beat France at Twickenham in 2023 in front of 58,498 spectators. The last two years have seen New Zealand’s Black Fearns take home the trophy, but England’s Red Roses are looking strong. Could a home victory be on the cards for 2025?
When: 22 August – 27 September
Where: England (various locations)
How to watch: Ticket applications for the first round of allocations have now closed, but there will be a second chance to secure match tickets at 11am on 25 February. The tournament will be shown exclusively on BBC Sport.
