The fashion team has already approved these sunglasses, and now it’s been proven that everyone is searching to shop them — it’s all about rectangular pairs this summer…
Protecting your eyes from the sun’s powerful rays during a heatwave, or summer in general, is of course essential. But you can also look pretty damn stylish in the process if you choose the right sunglasses.
We would hope you already own a pair of sunnies at this time of year, but if you’re on the look out (see what we did there) for a new pair, then we have the ones for you. In fact, we’ve found the ones that apparently everyone is eyeing up (sorry) lately. The shopping platform liketoknow.it has told us that searches for one particular pair has spiked, so much that it’s up 2,400% at the moment. The style is all about the 90s favourite sunglasses shape: rectangular.
The spring/summer 19 catwalk was filled with the pairs that are creating nostalgia among us, from Celine and Hugo Boss to Moschino. Naturally, they have since filtered into the A-lister’s accessory collections with Rihanna, Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner (to name a few) all wearing the retro shades.
Not only are they flattering on most face shapes, you can also snap them up (depending on your preference and budget) at everywhere from H&M and Mango to Gucci and Karen Walker. Continue to see our edit of the best rectangular sunglasses to go with all your latest summer wares.
Shop rectangular sunglasses
Mango tortoiseshell retro sunglasses
A tortoiseshell pair of sunnies will go with any outfit you pair them with. From a simple white jeans and a tank top, to this season’s key dress style; the milkmaid.
£17.99, Mango
Le Specs square-frame acetate sunglasses
If in doubt, go black — this is the rule to stick by with any new accessory trend. Le Specs are the go-to brand for eye-wear and we predict these will sell out, fast.
£55, Le Specs
Gucci rectangular sunglasses
If it isn’t a Gucci hair clip on our wish list, it’s Gucci sunglasses. Investing in a designer pair is exactly that, an investment.
If you think about the cost-per-wear over the years they’ll always end up being a justified purchase.
£270, Gucci
Dmybydmy orange Preston rectangular sunglasses
We’re imagining these with a linen dress, effortless flip flops and a mini bag. Alternatively, they look just as good with a statement floral maxi dress.
£130, Dmybydmy
Oliver Peoples saurine rectangular sunglasses
Pops of colourful accessories are always an easy way to instantly look, and feel more summery. Wear this glossy pair with a dusty pink dress and tan sandals.
£296, Oliver Peoples
Karen Walker Ginsberg rectangular sunglasses
Clearly (sorry) these perspex specs are a winner. The clear style will be less harsh on your face than a block colour pair and will instantly go with any outfit.
£238, Karen Walker
H&M rectangular sunglasses
In this season’s key shape, in classic fail-safe black and under £10. This H&M rectangular pair is a sure-fire accessory win.
£6.99, H&M
