VMAs 2019: 12 seriously wild red carpet looks that will instantly improve your mood
6 years ago
The VMA’s always serves the boldest red carpet looks and this year was no different. We’ve rounded up the most stellar looks from the night, be warned these are a big mood.
MTV’s Video Music Awards always brings with it a seriously wild red carpet.
Unlike its other red carpet counterparts, the VMAs is all about having fun with your look. It is, after all, the same red carpet event that saw Rose McGowan wear an almost naked dress in 1998. Where Lil’ Kim shut down the whole event in a lilac jumpsuit with matching sequin nipple cover. Where, in 2000, Jennifer Lopez’s all white outfit spurred a thousand low-rise white jeans and crop top combos.
And where, in 2010, Lady Gaga stepped onto the red carpet in 2010 wearing that meat dress.

Even beyond the red carpet, the VMAs have always been a source of drama and entertainment. Remember that Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera kiss from 2003? Or that time we all collectively pulled an incredibly awkward face when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech in 2009 because he believed Beyoncé should have won the award for Best Female Video?
And who can forget that incredible VMAs moment when Beyoncé debuted her baby bump in 2011 during an epic performance of Love On Top?

The 2019 VMAs were no different, serving up some of the most iconic red carpet moments we have ever witnessed (can we take a moment for Lizzo’s ‘Siren’ dress?) and delivering the sort of drama we’ve come to expect from the night (thank you Miley Cyrus and your emotional performance).
Here, we’ve rounded up the red carpet looks that are so fire they will burn bright in our red carpet memories until next year. Happy scrolling.

VMA Red Carpet 2019: Halsey
Knock out dress? Check. Rainbow hair? Check. All boxes ticked according to Halsey.
