Wear your heart on your sleeve this year.
If Viktor & Rolf have anything to do with it then sassy slogans on voluminous dresses will be a major mood in 2019.
As seen on the Haute Couture runway in Paris, Dutch designer Viktor & Rolf has taken memes, sassy slogans and everything else in-between and emblazoned them across dresses for spring/summer 2019. And they’ve done it with serious aplomb, too.
Plastered across mountainous layers of voluminous tulle and chiffon, in-your-face slogans (inspired by Instagram) like “Sorry I’m late, I didn’t want to come” and “I’m not shy, I just don’t like you” dominated the collection. And we’re on board with the message.
“It’s the kind of message you find on social media, with the same instant feeling,” designer Rolf Snoeren said during a preview of the collection, according to WWD.
“All these statements that are so obvious or easy — there’s a lot of banality on Instagram and social media in general — are counterbalanced with this over-the-top, shimmery, romantic feeling,” he added.
They might not be for the wallflowers amongst us, but they sure do get the message across loud and clear. And people have taken to Twitter to share their love for the new look.
Take a look at some of our favourite slogans below:
