According to the minds at Pinterest, who have looked at data spanning fashion, travel, beauty, home and food and drink to determine these future trend predictions, we can expect things like jellyfish and grandads to be central to our aesthetic inspo. Yes, really…

Eclectic grandpa

Even though the fashion and trend worlds tend to revolve around the ‘new’ and the ‘young’, things are going to be turning expressive and eccentric, according to Pinterest.

Think chic cardigans and retro streetwear, with searches for things like ‘eclectic clothing style’ going up by 130%, and ‘grandpa core’ rising by 65% on the platform. Is it really any surprise given how popular sweater-vests have already become?

Rest stops

You’ve heard of staycations, now get ready for proper rest stops.

These slowcations are all about taking it easy, whether that’s hitting up a laidback locale or simply by swerving clubbing abroad in favour of long lie-ins, with search up by 70% for ‘staycation hotel’, 145% for ‘solo travelling’, and 60% for ‘slow life’.

Be jelly

Remember how pineapples used to be all over everything? Well, now it’s the jellyfish’s time to shine.

From the jellyfish haircut, which has seen Pinterest searches go up by a whopping 615% (think very blunt layers not unlike an actual jellyfish), to the jellyfish lamp, which is up by 95%, our 2024 muse will be this squishy invertebrate.

Blue beauty

The Y2K resurgence is showing no sign of stopping, with bright blue make-up and beauty looks due to reign supreme next year, according to these numbers.

Searches for things like ’blue eyeshadow aesthetic’ have gone up already by 65%, ’fun blue nails’ by 260%, and ‘aqua make-up look’ by 100%. Inspired by the jellyfish, perhaps?

Cafécore

Our love affair with tea and coffee is set to spill into our décor choices, with Pinterest predicting that we’re going to want to add a bit of café culture where we live.

Searches for ‘coffee bar styling’ are up by a very impressive 1,125%, ‘coffee station décor’ by 145%, and ‘café aesthetic’ by 820%.
