There’s one man in the US who has undoubtedly come under a heck of a lot of pressure over the past year. Already rich and powerful with a money-spinning empire to run, he unexpectedly found himself tasked with a huge new responsibility and the expectations of many people resting on his shoulders.
Of course, we’re talking about Tommy Hilfiger.
He may be an iconic fashion designer, but there’s no job quite as important, or show quite as big, as the task of designing and making your daughter’s dream wedding dress.
Ally Hilfiger, a TV producer and writer, has been working with her dad on bringing her bohemian bride look to life since she got engaged to Steve Hash in July last year.
Those 52 weeks of phone calls, meet-ups, emails, fittings and alterations finally paid off for the Hilfigers this week at a luxury beach wedding in Mustique.
“So happy for my daughter Ally's wedding to Steve Hash,” the designer wrote on an Instagram snap of him proudly accompanying his daughter along the beach.
And the dress? A cream silk v-neck gown accompanied by a dramatic floor-length silk cape trimmed with a lace hood and edged with a deep blue floral motif.
Ally had already dropped hints about the bridal look she was going for, telling Hello! the dress would reflect her style: “I’m a bit of a bohemian, gypsy kind of chick”.
“He has a really great eye and [knows] what looks good on a woman,” she said of her dad. “And I have a clear vision of what I want, so I think that combining those will make for a beautiful dress.”
She was right.
The couple, who have been together for six years, enlisted their two-year-old daughter Harley to act as bridesmaid at the seaside nuptials, which combined with a Caribbean holiday for the Hilfiger clan over several days.
Both Hilfiger and his wife Dee Ocleppo wore the bridal party colours of cream for the occasion.
