This Victoria Beckham-approved sportswear is chic enough to wear to work

The designer has set aside her heels and created stylish, practical sportswear for Reebok
What Victoria Beckham wants (what she really, really wants) is a tracksuit she’d be happy leaving the house in. “I never thought it’d be acceptable to go out in a tracksuit,” she tells Stylist. “They’re not particularly flattering.”
To rectify this, Beckham has reimagined the ensemble in her first sportswear collaboration with Reebok. Unveiled in New York in late January and with a second drop due on 1 March, the 65-piece line has everything from yoga leggings and sports bras to cotton sweatshirts and bomber jackets.
Some compromises to Brand Beckham have been made – heels have been eschewed in favour of four new trainer styles – but the line is still a natural extension of her signature elegance and discretion (logos have been kept to a minimum).
Stylist caught up with Beckham in Manhattan to hear how she worked it all out.
Sportswear is a departure for you. Why did you choose to do this collaboration now?
I’ve wanted to create a sportswear collection for a long time. Working out is a huge part of my life, so I was very specific and knew what I wanted. I needed to make sure it was technical; that it doesn’t just look good but it really functions.
What is typically VB about this sportswear?
Nothing is overly complicated, it’s really focused, beautiful shapes. The colour palette isn’t typical of sportswear, either. Attention to detail is key in my ready-to-wear, and I was very specific with Reebok, too.
Why did you choose to work with the brand?
I loved Reebok Classics in the Nineties. There’s something so nostalgic about the brand. I’ve always loved the vector logo and fought to have it blended with VB in this collection.
Any favourite pieces?
The black funnel-neck jumper and the tracksuit. I never thought you could wear a tracksuit to work – you can now. These look stylish.
Are you a sportswear convert?
I roadtest everything, and this is sportswear that works really well alongside high fashion. I still own more pairs of heels, but I have just signed off on the next two collections, so my trainer collection might expand.
