The clocks have gone forward and the shops are telling us it’s spring — here’s the top 7 linen pieces to buy now, wear all season.

The clocks have gone forward and while the weather may still be undecided as to what season we’re in, according to the calendar we’re officially in spring. The shops, too, are awash with warmer-weather clothing — from crisp white denims to leather strappy sandals and woven raffia bags.

But the biggest trend of the moment? Linen. The perennial summer fabric is back this season, in a big way — think linen suiting, sleeveless jackets and tailored shorts, plus summer dresses and bags and everything in between.

While it may be a while before you can crack out the sleeveless sun dress in these uncertain UK temperatures, there are a whole hoard of pieces to buy now that will instantly freshen your wardrobe and help you feel more spring-like, even if the sky doesn’t reciprocate.

Keep scrolling for the must-have linen buys of the moment — get them now, before they’re gone. Your wardrobe will thank you when the sun starts to shine.

Mango Linen Blazer

The buttery hue of this crisply-tailored blazer is perfect for transitioning your wardrobe from dark wintery colours to a spring palette. Pair with tailored black trousers and a white crew neck tee for an elegant trans-seasonal look, and wear with summery denims and lightweight trousers for the rest of the season. Ideal also for throwing on over a midi dress for more formal events.

Thought parka jackets were just for winter? Think again. Topshop cleverly reworks the casual cold-weather staple in a summery stone linen that is ideal for those days when you really need an extra layer that doesn’t overwhelm your spring wardrobe. This is perfect worn over neutral trousers, white denim jeans and shirt dresses with sneakers.

Matin Linen Overalls

Buying linen in black stops it looking overwhelmingly sunny — making it perfect for those grey and muggy days come summer. This loosely-cut jumpsuit, with cropped legs and scooped back, is ideal worn with a tee underneath and a lightweight denim jacket on top, and can double-up as a beach coverall on vacay when you’re headed from beach to bar.

No spring wardrobe would be complete without a pair of linen trews — this tailored pair in a neutral camel are ideal for making them an everyday staple. After all, trying to keep a white pair pristine on public transport might be tricky… Perfect styled with a thin roll neck sweater for now — try it in a tonal camel to nail the head-to-toe beige trend also — and with a checked blazer thrown over, and ideal worn with slides and a vest come summer.
