You’ve booked your flight and pulled your old suitcase out – now you just need to plan what to put in it. We’ve got ideas for every kind of holiday…
Booking a holiday is the easy part. But once you’ve booked the flights, you then have to think about planning your trip.
The fun starts as soon as you start building up your itinerary – from what to do to where to eat. And you tend to want a holiday wardrobe to match.
We’ve taken out the stress by pairing up outfit inspirations with the kind of trip you might be going on…
1. The one with a festival
The words ‘festival style’ immediately make you think of flower headbands.
But you don’t have to go route one.
In fact, with more music festivals popping up in towns and cities, from Sonar in Barcelona to Dour in Belgium, you can rock your on-trend dad trainers and sunglasses without feeling out of place.
A skort is the perfect music festival item too, providing all the comfort of shorts while looking like a stylish skirt. Result.
2. The one you’ll spend on a beach towel
It’s easy to spend your holidays on a beach towel, in the same bikini, in your favourite spot that’s equidistant to the beach-side cafe and the sun loungers.
But given everything looks better with a tan, your relaxed fashion is an opportunity to feel even better during sundowners.
It’s all about picking outfits to accentuate the sun’s natural bronzing effect. A pop of colour through neon clothes teamed with classic white trousers will do that perfectly.
Complete the look with a wide-brimmed straw hat for safe coverage (but mostly for the ‘gram).
3. The one with loads of galleries
The joy of warmer temperatures means you can finally rock a summer dress you’ve been waiting to break out.
Let your fashion mimic art with this dress, perfect for a day at the museum or gallery. Featuring an abstract print, it’s made from flexible elasticated jersey, so while it’s really comfortable, the fitted bodice and flared skirt also means it isn’t shapeless.
A structured basket bag can be worn cross-body (keeping your hands free to take photos), or as mini-grab bag with the handle.
Finish the look off with this denim jacket to take you from day to night. It looks classic at the front, but the fringe detail on the back is anything but.
4. The one where the menu is the most important thing
Food makes any holiday better, especially when a restaurant tour is built into the trip.
Comfort matters the most when you’re spending the day feasting on local delicacies and wandering around markets – or just filling time between meals.
This retro-style dress fits the bill perfectly, with its loose and floaty fit.
When it comes to accessories, this Crayola-bright bag is a must-have, as it can be worn multiple ways (with the netting around it or without). And it’s ideal for storing any leftovers you want to hold onto for later.
5. The one that’s a staycation
Not all waterside holidays have to include a flight.
If you’re looking for something a little closer to home, don’t forget beaches in the UK, from classic Brighton to Margate and St Ives.
Thanks to last year’s freak heatwave, the UK staycation has never been more popular.
Stroll along the beach in this tie-die effect dress, comfy footwear and a spring twist on the classic denim jacket.
