Hot off the catwalk, these are the key trends to bookmark for the coming season.
Stylist Live is back – and so is its very own catwalk. As you look towards the festive season armed with a calendar full of activities, you’ll be wanting to elevate your wardrobe. To brush up on your style game, take note of this season’s five key trends from the Stylist Live catwalk.
Get ready for a technicolour textured journey featuring off-beat colour pairings of burgundy with green and toffee with lilac; mega-watt metallic bags and luxe leather shoes; and flares of fiery shades of red in brushed fluffy textures.
If you weren’t able to attend Stylist Live in person, these are the Stylist-approved trends and key fashion tips to adopt this year.
Red alert

Loewe, Victoria Beckham, Valentino and Fendi have all been painting the town and catwalks red this season, in striking shades of tomato, oxblood and crimson. You only need to look towards It girl Hailey Bieber, who hailed it the season of the Strawberry Girl with her berry-themed beauty collection. Even Barbie herself has left behind the fuchsia dresses of the dreamhouse, with Margot Robbie opting for little dresses in firetruck hues.
Models kicked off the catwalk at Stylist Live, donning cherry red shades in the form of head-turning brushed coats paired with matching trousers and silk blouses. For an altogether chic look with little styling effort, look no further than the classic mini dress and blazer combo à la Jason Wu and Marni’s autumn/winter 2023 collection. If you’re feeling a little apprehensive about an all-red look, try to incorporate pieces that can be worn as separates for a cheery pop of colour.

Butterscotch with dusty pink and sharp green apple? OK, we hear you – everything about this on paper screams ‘no’. But, after witnessing it on Emilia Wickstead’s catwalk, we’re finding these combos hard to resist.
Taking our styling cues from Miuccia Prada’s unconventional pairings at Prada and Miu Miu, Stylist Live got a little experimental with colour. The key to nailing the trend? Avoid bold patterns and textures to allow these colour-combos to do all the talking.
Layer a soft salmon pink coat with cornflower blue roll-neck for an unexpected twist and sharp injection of colour. Or try a bright zesty lime shirt with structured cocoa suiting and suddenly the unlikely combination works.
If you’re new to unusual colour pairings, start by incorporating bright fluro accessories with more subtle shades such as black cherry, burgundy and murky caramel brown— it’s a great introduction to the trend. It may feel like a fashion faux pas, but with a shot of hi-vis blue, it all starts to make sense. So, get mixing and matching it up.

Silver took the spotlight at Stylist Live, where models shone in megawatt metallics and sequin sparkles. Among the big names bringing this sci-fi shade into our wardrobes this season are Rabanne, Simone Rocha and Valentino with disco-ball gowns and dainty diamante encrusted shoes.
This accent shade is the perfect addition to any neutral outfit, adding a mood-boosting layer of brightness to the darker-tone palettes of this season.
If you’re seeking a look to wear on your next night out or office Christmas party, go all-out in head-to-toe sequins and you’ll truly make a statement. Black maxi dresses with sheer silver beads and sequins threaded through are a great option for those who want a more pared-back approach to this glittering trend.
Then accessorise to the max. Crystal studded ballet flats and ornamented drop earrings will provide a party-perfect finishing touch to your outfit. Get ready to radiate high-octane glamour!

To ensure you look and feel fabulous this cool weather season, think big. Big coats, the bigger the better in every sense of the word.
If you incorporate any trend from Stylist Live into your wardrobe, let it be this one. With pumped-up shoulders, statement-making silhouettes and hemlines that sweep the floors, coats are well and truly having a moment. We love the razor-sharp tailoring over at Chloé and Ferragamo, and nothing quite spells chic like the models at Courrèges, who wore oversized overcoats while mindlessly scrolling on their phones at the autumn/winter 2023 collections.
These are the classic styles you can wear to your office meetings, coffee mornings, dinners out, drinks with friends and beyond. A soft-to-the-touch boucle paired with a chunky trainer will see you through any and every eventuality, while a trusty trench paired with a cashmere knit will glam up any look in an instant.

To say 2023 has been the year for quiet luxury would be an understatement. You can thank Succession’s Shiv Roy for spearheading this high-end aesthetic, with designer labels, including The Row, Bottega Venetta and Max Mara following suit.
It’s the go-to It style, blending understated elegance with casual basics and a little touch of high-low styling. Stylist Live took note, with a catwalk awash with dark denim, razor-sharp suiting and overcoats in tonal hues. Put a slouch in your step with barrel-leg trousers and wide-leg denim cut-offs.
To nail the quiet luxury fashion trend, prioritise timeless basics – the ones you will rely on season after season over flashy trend-driven pieces. Direct your attention towards craftsmanship, tailoring and texture by opting for key wardrobe items in neutral colourways and classic silhouettes.
We’ll be pairing crisp white shirts with clean-cut coats and cashmere-rich knits. Then add in elegant accessories that don’t overwhelm the overall outfit, but rather work in tandem to give the look a polished finish.
