Actor and style icon Sienna Miller has been back in London for a year and has been working on a highly anticipated collection for M&S. A fan of undone, relaxed British style, the collaboration comes following a partnership last autumn when Miller fronted a successful campaign for the high street stalwart.

Initially planned as a 15-piece capsule collection, the range quickly gained pace and the final result is a 33-piece collection of covetable dresses, blouses, denim, swimwear, high summer separates and accessories.  

The high-summer collection is a holiday capsule of sorts and includes everything you would need for a sunny getaway, such as a sarong inspired by a piece her father gave her, backless mules and a printed silk mini dress. However, the stand-out piece is the broderie blouse that Miller wore this week at the press launch for the collection. It’s a vintage-inspired, off-white piece that Miller worked especially hard on – and you can tell.

A big difference between high street clothing and vintage pieces is the feel and density of the fabric. Speaking to the press, Miller explained how she convinced the design team to go for a more authentic, vintage feel: “The feel of everything we worked really hard on… It was a push and pull, they [M&S] design clothes that are amazing but with the high street there are standards: garments have to not disintegrate too easily, but I wanted pieces to feel antique and thin so we worked on it and they came round.” 

In terms of what to wear it with, I’d recommend the horseshoe jeans and backless mules from the collection as a great formula for an elevated day-to-night option. Alternatively, the top would also look great with a mini skirt or wide-leg silk trousers and leather sandals.

The timing of the launch has coincided perfectly with the resurgence of the boho trend, spearheaded by Chloé, one of Miller’s favourite fashion houses. Miller added: “We designed this a year ago, before this whole resurgence of the kind of clothes that I love to wear. It has timed out perfectly, in that it happens to be trendybecause this is what I would have done irrespective of that. I think everyone looks great in boho.”
