If you get excited about new shoes - and frankly, who doesn't? - then you'll love Selfridges' new shoe hall
It's one of those pinch-yourself shopping moments. When news of the new shoe hall at Selfridges dropped on our desks we wondered if it was some sort of cruel joke.
A shoe shop bigger than the Tate Modern's Turbine Hall? After a few frenzied calls to the PR we were reassured that no, it wasn't a wind up, and yes, Selfridges' new shoe store - set across its second floor - will display more than 4,000 pairs of shoes from 120 brands ranging from Topshop to Louboutin.
It will also boast the world’s longest wall of Havaianas, and even a French eaterie, Aubaine.
Jamie Fobert is the man behind the department’s inspired design; his other projects include Givenchy in Paris and Harrods’ Urban Retreat, so even if you're not after a new pair of heels, it's worth popping in to marvel at the space (though we dare you not to be tempted to at least try on one of the 30 exclusive launch styles).
Stylist’s Fashion Director Alexandra Fullerton - officially one of the luckiest women in the world - was one of the first to get a preview tour, and confirms that, “it’s set to be the biggest shoe shopping destination in the country”.
The shoe hall at Selfridges will officially open on Thursday 23rd September.
