Instagram is, without a doubt, one of the easiest places to keep an eye on fashion and beauty trends. From make-up brushes to t-shirts, there’s a hashtag for everything on the social media site – and, time and time again, it’s proven invaluable in spotting which high street items have captured the imaginations of fashionistas around the world.
But, now that the sun is shining, everyone is on the hunt for that perfect summery blouse. And, judging by people’s Instagram posts, they’ve found exactly what they’re looking for in River Island.

It’s safe to say that it’s got a certain je ne sais quoi.
The crew neck blouse has been crafted from china blue and white cotton – but, while it’s simple, it’s got a lot going on. Think delicate ladder lace inserts, on-trend frills, bell sleeves, and, of course, those all-important broderie (aka that traditionally French embroidery style) details.
No wonder so many people are losing their hearts to it on social media.
Fashion guru Lucia DeBieux shared a snapshot of herself in the new must-have item, writing: “Definitely don't need another broderie anglaise top but I definitely did buy it.”
Blogger @welliesandchampagne followed suit, writing: “Blue jeans and ruffles.”
And Arabella Greenhill, who has garnered quite a following on social media thanks to her on-point style, also revealed that she’s been wearing this River Island top to some high-profile events.
And they aren’t the only people to have fallen hard for the effortlessly stylish blouse.
We reached out to River Island, who exclusively told stylist.co.uk that the top has quickly become one of their best sellers: they’ve already sold 2,482 of them here in the UK.
The blouse is still available online in sizes six to 18 – and, at £35, it’s a smart investment for your summer wardrobe.
