Leave it to taste-maker Rihanna to set the tone for what we want to wear this winter…
Rejoice, because it is finally cold enough for a proper winter coat! And, just in case you missed it, winter coats have been expanding at an unprecedented rate season by season… and we mean this quite literally, because they’re massive. From Balenciaga, to Acne Studio, to Gucci, all the big design houses have been championing a new silhouette – one that allows you to maintain your personal space.
However, none have been quite so large as this iconic look from Rihanna, which has been flooding our Instagram feeds (in meme-form) this week.
Check it out:
The giant pink puffer jacket look, which actually hails from 2016, is the design child of Ella Boucht. However, the coat (which had ‘viral meme’ written all over it, even then) also falls in line with fashion’s latest love in, Instagram account @itsmaymemes. Launched by 16-year-old Hawaiian May, this now-viral account takes all of those catwalk coats that are verging on the larger size and blow them up to hilarious (and incredibly cosy-looking) proportions. Never has the motto ‘the bigger the better’ ever been truer.
So make like Rihanna or make like May and go big or go back to bed. It’s time to shop the best puffer jackets now.
Pastels are no longer reserved for those sunnier months, so add this now cult coat from Ienka Ienka (it’s a street style fave) to your cart now.
