Oscars red carpet 2024: the must-see fashion from this year’s Academy Awards

From Ariana Grande to Zendaya, here’s every incredible look from the 2024 Academy Awards red carpet.

It’s official: the biggest event of the awards season is finally upon us.

On 11 March 2024, the prestigious 96th Academy Awards (that’s the Oscars, to you and me) took place at the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, with Jimmy Kimmel as host for a fourth time. As film buffs will no doubt be aware, the live-performance auditorium, formerly known as the Kodak Theater, has hosted every single Academy Awards since 2002. And, just as we have seen every single time, stars flooded the red carpet dressed in their best for the movie awards show.

Ahead of the final ever Barbenheimer showdown, Margot Robbie and Cillian Murphy posed in their finery for the cameras – but, while the former swapped her usual Barbie pink for a classic black gown, her Best Supporting Actress co-star, America Ferrera, dazzled in a pink Versace chainmail dress that took over 400 hours to make.

First-time Oscar nominee Lily Gladstone (who’s long been a Best Actress frontrunner) posed in a strapless midnight-blue velvet gown by Gucci, Emma Stone was far from a (sorry) Poor Thing in her custom bustier gown by Louis Vuitton, and  Da’vine Joy Randolph glittered in a pale blue sequin gown by Louis Vuitton.

Elsewhere on the red carpet, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski struck a coordinated pose, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made a case for silk suits and Billie Eilish gave us her best Clueless impression in a Chanel tweed blazer and heeled Mary Jane shoes – all of which she beautifully accessorised with a red pin from Artists4Ceasefire.

Here are some of our favourite looks from the night so far (we will work to update this gallery throughout the night):

America Ferrera

And pink goes with everything, as America Ferrera proves in her perfect pink chainmail dress by Versace.

Could they be any more coordinated? We adore how well Emily Blunt’s sparkling Schiaparelli couture gown pairs with John Krasinski’s white tuxedo.

Margot Robbie

Her least Barbie look of all? Margot Robbie’s strapless black Versace dress might feel understated compared to her past red carpet looks, but to us it screams Old Hollywood glamour.

Lily Gladstone
