With so many options now available, ‘it bags’ seem to have fallen a bit to the wayside. Of course, there are mainstays such as the Hermès Birkin, Chanel boy bag, Loewe puzzle, or, more recently, The Row’s Margaux, but with such a wide range of designers and styles to choose from, the ‘it’ now seems a little redundant. Not to mention a handful of high street options have also become the standout accessory star of many a season – here’s looking at the Uniqlo crossbody and Cos quilted bags.

So, when one bag sold out at a rather rapid rate and was spotted on the shoulder of many a fashionable Instagrammer, it’s unsurprising that it caught my attention. Could this be the latest must-have luxury label accessory? It appears so, and it comes courtesy of Miu Miu.

While the name doesn’t give too much away – the crochet pouch, £965 – this shoulder style contrasts colours and textures to create a striking design, one that’s drastically different to the ‘quiet luxury’ black or brown leather options we’re used to seeing from these luxury labels. 

Miu Miu is known to be the fun, younger sister of Italian luxury label Prada, so it’s not surprising this colourful, slightly flashy fashion find – which perfectly leans into current Y2K and coquette styling trends – comes courtesy of the fashion house. And, despite its near-£1000 price tag, it has firmly cemented itself as this summer’s ‘it bag’, so much so that it’s even sparked some people to get creative and try to create their own at home.
