Fashion’s biggest and most glamorous night has arrived – here are the best looks from the red carpet.
The first Monday in May can only mean one thing: it’s Met Gala time.
Yes, fashion’s biggest night is back and promises to be more glamorous than ever. This year’s themed gala is paying homage to the late designer Karl Lagerfeld, who died in 2019.
Titled Karl Lagerfeld: A Line Of Beauty, The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will feature an exhibition with 150 original looks from his storied career and their respective original sketches. And tonight, the most famed names in the world of fashion and celebrity will pay tribute in style to the former creative director of Chanel.
The dress code simply states ‘in honour of Karl’ and with much inspiration to be taken from his time working at Chanel, Fendi, Chloé and his own namesake label, expect attendees to be influenced by his archive. Karl Lagerfeld also stuck to a personal uniform of black and white suits, collars, sunglasses and fingerless gloves and many variations of this ensemble are anticipated.
This year’s co-chairs include Penélope Cruz, Dua Lipa, Michaela Coel and Roger Federer and, of course, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour will be in attendance. Meanwhile, celebrities such as Rita Ora, Paris Hilton and Florence Pugh have also confirmed their appearance on the red carpet.
Here at Stylist, we will be updating you live as attendees arrive, so sit back, relax and enjoy the fashion.
