Jennifer Lopez just closed the Versace show in Milan, and the internet can't handle it

Jennifer Lopez closed Versace’s show tonight in a recreation of the dress that broke the internet.

The Friday night of Milan Fashion Week is always when the Versace show takes place, and we have come to expect a lot from it.

It was after all the show that, just a few seasons ago, gave us the return of the Nineties supermodels (Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen et al) all clad in shimmering Versace gold.

But tonight, Donatella Versace brought out the big guns: J.Lo. The singer and actress closed the jungle-themed spring/summer 2020 catwalk show in a recreation of that iconic, green Versace dress. The same one that she famously wore almost 20 years ago to the Grammy Awards. And rightly so, the internet has gone wild.

This isn’t the first time J.Lo has broken the internet, in fact, Jennifer Lopez is the OG internet breaker. When she first stepped out in the green chiffon plunging dress there were so many searches for “J.LO” “Versace” that they built Google Images to fix the problem.

Tonight’s recreation provoked a similar manner of hysteria. In a Mexican wave of sorts, the fashion word’s elite cheered on J.Lo as she swooshed and sashayed her way around the circular show space. Even the front row was standing on their feet to capture an image of the woman who defined an era of style and internet search.

Not content with just one circuit of the hallowed Versace catwalk, J.Lo did an encore (much to everyone’s enjoyment) but this time with creator and collaborator Donatella in tow.

Thank you J.Lo and Versace for giving us Google Images, for giving us this dress and for letting us relive it all over again.
