Jennifer Lopez’s Versace dress has had a huge impact on our shopping habits

Further cementing her status as the fashion world’s most influential muse, search for green dresses is up by 1200%.

Last week, Jennifer Lopez sent Milan Fashion Week show-goers frantically digging around for their iPhones as she shut down the Versace runway in a spring/summer 2020 spin on that green dress.

Somehow managing to give Kim Kardashian a lesson in how to break the internet, the singer has become a permanent fixture on our Instagram feeds ever since with endless captions labelling her an “icon” and “queen” not quite worthy of her new reigning status.

So it’s not entirely surprising to learn that the fashion moment is set to go down in the sartorial history books, as shopping app LIKEtoKNOW.it has reported a staggering 1,200% increase in search for “green dresses”.

Yep, we’re pretty sure our late night social media trawl (you couldn’t just watch her runway sashay once) contributed to the numbers…

The original J. Lo dress, which the singer wore on the 2000 Grammy Awards red carpet, shaped the very core of the internet as we know it today with an increase in search queries inspiring the global enterprise to launch Google Images.

In fact, the now-legendary look soon became the most popular search query of all time.

For its revival almost two decades later, the leaf-printed frock underwent a minor overhaul in keeping with the latest line’s jungle theme by losing its sleeves and earning a little extra embroidery.

Cracking a grin from even the most stern-faced front row attendees, J. Lo delivered a runway encore to a wave of cheers and camera flashes. The second time around, Donatella Versace herself also relished the moment with her arm firmly around the star’s waist when the power duo closed the show.

So before you throw yourself into the electric blue trend currently making waves this Fashion Month, you may want to make like J. Lo and dabble in bottle green.
