JC Penney sell 'anti-feminist' shirt to girls

The American retail giant JC Penney has been attacked by US feminists for selling a T-shirt, aimed at girls aged between seven and 16, emblazoned with, “I’m too pretty to do homework, so my brother has to do it for me” across the chest.

The item hit shops just in time to target US children going back to school. Women’s rights activist Shelby Knox was so incensed that she ran a Facebook and Twitter campaign to have it removed from stores and online – where the product description ran, “Who has time for homework when there’s a new Justin Bieber album out?”

After 1,600 complaints, the shirt was discontinued. JC Penney issued a statement saying, “We agree that the T-shirt does not deliver an appropriate message”.
