Take the Festivals in your Stride

Put the roof down, turn the music up and hit the road with Butterfly Twists’ stylish range of ballet pumps

Where’s something intrinsically nostalgic about road trips: the sun glinting off the windscreen, the radio sing-a-longs, the empty sweet packets. Heading off with no destination in mind is the ultimate opportunity to explore and unwind.

Well, road trip season is upon us and Butterfly Twists has solved all driving-footwear dilemmas with their range of on-trend pumps that are perfect for fashion-savvy women on-the-go. Featuring stylish details – think delicate gold studs, patent and quilted finishes – these lightweight ballerinas are the perfect match for your spring/summer wardrobe.

The unique memory foam insole and signature skid-resistant rubber sole is made for hard-driving feet and with designs ranging from neon-accented leopard print to embroidered pointed slippers, there’s something for everyone.

Here we share our pick of the best UK road trips. Whether you’re heading for a weekend in a boutique hotel or a few days of good food in one of the UK’s beauty spots, travel in style with Butterfly Twists.

The Humber Bridge

Opened by the Queen in 1981, the Humber Bridge was the world’s second largest suspension bridge and offers breathtaking views as you drive across. Crossing the Humber estuary near Kingston upon Hull it’s an astonishing feat of engineering and an awe-inspiring addition to any road trip. So much so that you might pull a U-turn and do it all again.

Black Mountain Pass

The A4069 is perfect for a road trip. Dipping and climbing through the exquisite countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park – think tumbling hills punctuated by the occasional rustic pub – you’ll marvel at the scenery while trying to avoid rogue sheep. It’s so stunning you (probably) won’t even mind if when you get stuck behind a tractor.

The Angel of the North

If you fancy a long drive, jump on the A1, the longest numbered road in the UK, connecting London with Edinburgh. Make sure you visit the 20m tall Angel of the North by Antony Gormley on your way through Tyne and Wear before taking detours along the 659.8km route. Also perfect if you break up the journey with a stop-off at a luxury boutique hotel, of course.
