As winter rolls ever closer, it’s time to start piling on the layers: chunky jumpers are pulled over jeans, tight-neck tops are fitted under dresses, and our love for denim can be shown in full force with trench coats, jeans and dresses crafted from the fabric. Yet it’s a summer-ready item that’s been spotted on the streets all over London Fashion Week, and we’re going to start weaving it into our autumn wardrobes: the mini skirt.

Despite the changing of the seasons, the leg-baring piece has taken centre stage, and as you’d imagine, there was no short supply of inspiration for how to style them.

Across the four days of London-based shows, we saw checked mini skirts paired with tights and cosy cardigans, leopard print mini skirts styled with coordinating coats and leather options bundled with sharp and sleek blazers. Unsurprisingly, there were also plenty of knee-high boots, the ultimate winter leg warmer.

So, to make the thoughts of a high hemline seem a little less daunting for the cold spell, we’ve found our five favourite street style looks to start recreating now. Plenty of which you can do with items already in your wardrobe.
