Take your cues from the autumn/winter 2024 catwalks and pair punchy prints with bright colours to boost your mood this winter.

Goodbye, iced coffee, caps and crop tops. Hello hot chocolates, woolly hats and heavy-knit jumpers. Winter is very much on its way (heavy sigh).

But rather than sulk at mother nature, the changing seasons and, specifically, the UK weather, I’m here to tell you that dressing in bold colours each morning can brighten your day – figuratively and literally. Yes, having more colour in our wardrobes can enliven us and help us to feel a little bit happier.

You’ll have likely heard of the term dopamine dressing, which had a revival during the pandemic, emerging as a way to find joy through what we wear. This is feel-good fashion in the greatest sense of the word. Think big prints, bold patterns and jolts of colour.

At the autumn/winter 2024 catwalks there was a renewed sense of optimism, with bright jolts of electric yellow over at Lapointe. Meanwhile, Miu Miu boasted fresh takes on dresses and lady-like skirt suits in pretty, clashing fluro shades, while Marc Jacobs delivered zingy blazers and mini skirts in zesty hues.

So, if you’re seeking a little mood boost, why not adopt the dopamine-dressing trend? Below are some of the most uplifting pieces from the high street to inject some joy into your wardrobe.
