Leggings aren’t just for workouts and lounging – they can be stylish too. It’s all about how you style them. Read Stylist’s expert guide below.

Sometimes, the simplest pieces are the ones we overlook. Take leggings, for instance: versatile, comfortable and wearable all year round. Most of us own a pair, yet outside the gym or lounging in front of the TV watching Rivals on repeat, they rarely get the attention they deserve. But with the recent spring/summer 2025 collections, perhaps it’s time to rethink our everyday essentials.

At Miu Miu, models strutted down the catwalks with tousled hair, wearing sporty leggings with side stripes and cut-out details. Meanwhile, Ferragamo leaned into the balletcore aesthetic with wrap tops, leotards and ribbon-tied heels in soft terracotta and pale pink.

Missoni and Diesel opted for punchy prints, while Proenza Schouler showcased sleek split-hem styles, paired with oversized shirts and tailored trench coats.

Some of these pairings may already be part of your wardrobe (who doesn’t reach for fleece-lined leggings and a hoodie on a cosy weekend?). But if you’re looking for fresh styling ideas, we’ve rounded up the best three leggings outfits to wear now.

How to wear leggings in 2025

Add a blazer for a smart-casual look

Who says leggings can’t be worn for work? Opt for black, tan or neutral tones that look more professional for an office setting rather than cropped or bright colourwave versions. Remonia has gone for equestrian-inspired stirrup leggings, elevating them with a razor-sharp tailored blazer and matching cream court shoes.

By adding a fitted blazer, you can create a polished, structured silhouette. A crisp white shirt and patent loafers will help to complete the look.

Pair with retro trainers

For an off-duty feel, go monochrome like Stacie (above) – think black leggings, a black coat and tonal accessories. But to break up the all-black ensemble, add suede trainers like Adidas Sambas or Gazelles, which bring a laid-back yet stylish vibe. For a look inspired by Miu Miu, opt for brown, red or metallic finishes on your shoes to add contrast and help keep your outfit fresh and edgy.

Turn to textured layers

Like jeans, leggings make a perfect base for textures. Try pairing them with a cosy mohair jumper, a plush faux fur coat or sleek snakeskin boots (like Marilyn) to add a sense of purpose to your look rather than making it feel too casual.
