If you’ve ever stood in front of a bulging wardrobe and thought ‘I’ve got nothing to wear’, you’re not alone. Many of us get stuck in a style rut and with a million other things to think about, it’s easy to let looking good take a back seat. That’s why, with the help of M&S, we’re launching our Welcome Back To You campaign, showing how real women can discover their full style potential.

Here, writer Leonie Simone remembers that fashion should make you happy.

I’m the first to admit it: I’m a hoarder. I have a ridiculous amount of clothes but, like most women, I still find myself regularly declaring that ‘nothing looks good on me’! My go-to style is sensible and it is a constant challenge to find something fun and fashionable without ending up looking frumpy.

My M&S styling session and photo shoot has reminded me that fashion should be fun. Clothes should make you happy, and all the bright colours and boho, Seventies chic I got to try on has made me so happy. I might not have noticed these clothes in the shop, but I loved everything I tried on. I took home a gorgeous red dress and haven’t been able to put it away yet – it’s still hanging on my bedroom door, making me smile every time I see it. And that’s how we should all feel about fashion – because it’s just grown-up dressing up really, isn’t it? We need to let go of the anxiety we all feel, get out of our style ruts, and just enjoy clothes. I will be from here on out.
