From cherry red shades to sculptural silhouettes, these are the biggest fashion trends seen at the Golden Globes 2025, featuring standout looks from Zendaya, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and more.

The annual Golden Globes awards ceremony took place on 5 January at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA, and the stars came out to celebrate one of the biggest nights in Hollywood. While the awards are always the main event, there’s another side to the evening that’s taken just as seriously: the fashion trends.

Awards season always delivers breathtaking looks that set the tone for the trends that will inspire the fashion world and shape the red carpets for the rest of the year. The 82nd annual Golden Globes didn’t disappoint; if anything, the looks were more dazzling than ever.

As for the vibe of the attendees? Some kept it classic with elegant monochromatic floor-length gowns, but last night was all about bold pops of colour, sculptural silhouettes and sequin accents.

Keep scrolling to see the top three trends from the Golden Globes 2025 that took the red carpet by storm and some of the best-dressed attendees of the night.

Powerful red shades

Red has been dominating the autumn/winter 2024 catwalks from the likes of 16Arlington, Basheva and Balmain – so much so that Pinterest has named cherry hues a key trend for 2025. It’s no surprise, then, that this vibrant shade has made its way onto the (aptly named) red carpet.

From crimson and burgundy to sweet raspberry tones, there’s something undeniably powerful about the colour. Even the neutral obsessives at Stylist HQ can’t get enough of Ali Wong’s feathered blood red Balenciaga look (below).

Sequin sparkles

Perhaps unsurprisingly, one of the biggest trends for the Golden Globes 2025 was for dazzling, light-catching sequins – and they came in many forms.

Cynthia Erivo stole the show in a beautiful ballroom gown adorned with shimmering winter bloom decals, while Mikey Madison glittered in a stunning gold sequin dress. Viola Davis wowed with a dress that featured a fluttering sheer sequin cape that elegantly trailed behind her as she walked down the red carpet.

But not all of the sparkle was OTT. Miley Cyrus stunned in a sleek black cocktail dress with subtle rhinestone cutout details, which she paired with spikey hair and dramatic eye make-up. Meanwhile, all eyes were on Ariana Grande as she arrived on the red carpet in a butter-yellow vintage Givenchy couture gown from spring/summer 1966 – so chic.

Sculptural silhouettes

When it comes to making a statement, the rule is clear: turn on the texture. Strong silhouettes and puffy details took front and centre stage this year, with billowing skirts, full-body ruffles and dramatic trains playing a key role in elevating looks.

Elle Fanning embraced a fairytale aesthetic, wearing a princess-worthy gown with a voluminous puffy skirt, a whimsical neckline and a sparkly leopard-print bodice. In contrast, Zendaya donned a burnt orange coloured dress with a fluted waist and a statement-making silhouette.
