One shade of the new sandals has already sold out, proving the shoe style is just as popular as the original fan-favourite.
Few shoe styles have rocketed to fashion stardom quite like the Ganni buckled ballet flat. Since being introduced to the Scandi store in 2021, they’ve spanned a range of 12 shades with new colours and prints introduced with each new season. And it’s this season-spanning functionality that has made them a bestseller for the brand: you can wear them with mini dresses in summer, with jeans and jumpers in spring or with chunky tights in winter, proving their versatility as a true wardrobe staple.
Spotted on the feet of fashion editors, bloggers and famous faces, including model Paloma Elsesser, the pointed-toe slingback shoe is a statement-making piece. “It is a shoe that captures the essence of the modern woman – someone who appreciates comfort without sacrificing style,” says Ditte Reffstrup, creative director at Ganni. “While it nods to traditional ballerina flats, it incorporates a unique twist that makes it distinctly Ganni.”
However, as with all popular fashion finds, it seems the time has come for the buckled ballet flat to adapt. Shifting into a sandal style and named simply the ‘buckle two-strap sandal’, the bestseller has had a summer-ready twist while keeping the statement silver buckle as the core feature.
Speaking to Stylist about the new design, Reffstrup says: “We decided to make them in sandal form to offer our customers an option for warmer days. Sandals are a popular choice for summer, and we wanted to incorporate the great details from the buckle ballerina into a new design.” This may limit their wearability compared to the classic buckled ballet flat… unless you’re happy to lean into the socks and sandals look.
Two shades of the sandal are currently available: red and black (a third shade, in silver, is already sold out). The same style also comes complete with a small heel in the same shades for a more elevated option as well. Now, we just need the weather to warm up so we can truly step into sandal season.
In the meantime, scroll on for a few of our favourite summer shoe styles below for when the sun does start to shine.
