Five reasons to shop the Christmas sales now

By Stylist Fashion Team

The Christmas sales have started, and with the main event right around the corner, and a New Year on the horizon, there’s really never been a better time to update your wardrobe.

Much like last year, the online sales have kicked off early, with some of our favourite retailers offering serious discounts on some of the most covetable buys of the season. This means there’ll be no more queuing from dawn ahead of the Boxing Day sales. Now you can take all the stress out of Christmas-sale shopping and browse (and secure) those all-important bargains from the comfort of your own home.

Like any other sale, it pays to make quick decisions. Once you’ve filled your virtual basket, we’d suggest a swift purchase to avoid disappointment – with so many amazing buys and tempting discounts, we predict styles to sell out fast.

From designer separates to perfect party heels, cosy cable knits to luxury loungewear – here’s our rundown of the best online sales to bookmark now, and a few of our team’s top picks…

Matchesfashion.com

As designer sales go, this might well be one of the best. Expect to find up to 50% off designers including Tibi, Loewe, JW Anderson and more, and each purchase will be delivered in Matchesfashion.com’s signature marble box. You’ll be hard-pushed to choose between the outerwear (think military maxi styles from Joseph and the Bottega Veneta checked coat of the season) and the many hero ankle boots on offer. Our top pick? It has to be Tibi’s pink double-breasted blazer.

Topshop

Firm fashion fans will be well aware of just how good the Topshop sale rail can be. Unlike some high-street sales, this one features some of the hottest items of the season, marked down to almost half price. The highlight? It has to be the party wear. Just in time for NYE,  Topshop currently has a whopping 50% off  key party pieces, including velvet jumpsuits, embellished court shoes and silky full-sleeve midi dresses.

Net-a-Porter

Put aside some time for this one. Net-a-Porter’s super sale is one of the biggest online designer sales, which requires a little careful navigation to successfully locate the best pieces. Helpfully, the clever team behind the mega sale offer various categories to help you on your way to sale-shopping success: simply pick the designer, colour and size to narrow your search - perfect. There’s currently up to 50% off, with prices set to be reduced further in the coming weeks. JW Anderson’s hero metallic shoulder bag has topped our wishlist.

Kurt Geiger

Kurt Geiger is offering half price on some of their hero winter styles. While there are plenty of sky-high heels perfect for NYE in the mix, and a number of box clutch bags guaranteed to update your failsafe little black dress, we’re looking to classic boot styles to update our current winter wares.

House of Fraser

House of Fraser’s incredible sale is underway with discounts across fashion, homeware, luggage, suits, Christmas decorations and so much more. Naturally, with so much choice, it can be hard to know where to begin. Savvy shoppers will know the best time to buy a winter coat is now, and a classic coat shape will always be a wise investment. Let Hobbs’ camel belted robe coat be your starting point.

Stylebop

While Stylebop may not have the whopper designer discounts, what it does do so very well is pick pieces that are hard to come by from up-and-coming designers. There’s currently 30% off some of the coolest items of the season, including this chic Rejina Pyo one-shoulder top. Other designers featured in the sale to take note of include Ellery, Isa Arfen and Emilia Wickstead.
