Her rise to fashion fame has been fast and furious, from walking in her first show at NYFW to designing a collection of handbags for The Kooples.
So how did actress, model and style guru Emily Ratajkowski know that briefcase bags would be the biggest accessories trend of the season?
“I’ve always been a very visual person,” she tells Stylist, of her new collaboration with the cult clothing brand.
“I’m a messy person and wanted something that could be organised easily, but the most important thing to me was creating a timeless bag.
“I still have some of my grandmother’s old Prada bags, so that was something I talked to [The Kooples] about. I wanted a structured bag that won’t look totally crazy in 10 years’ time.”
Masters of laid-back- cool; think perfectly cut blazers, mid-rise jeans and effortless basics, The Kooples are the perfect brand fit for self-professed feminist Ratajkowski.
The Gone Girl star describes her style as “sexy and feminine”, two adjectives that are often front of mind when considering French style.
Her 38-piece handbag collection includes the ‘Emily’ bag- a beautifully boxy, structured bag that will easily add a hit of polished, effortless ease to any look.
Until this season, the briefcase has never really lived up to its fashion potential in a contemporary sense.
But since appearing on the AW17 runways across Milan and Paris, the briefcase is having a moment and designers are re-imagining the shape into structured, clean silhouettes that are beautifully classic and timeless.
The bag adds a structured final-touch that instantly elevates any outfit. The Parisian powerhouse and the American power- girl have blended to produce a line of bags nothing short of perfection.
