The new generation of up-and-coming models you need to have on your radar

The faces that are making waves in fashion right now? Greta Varlese, Bhumika Arora, Ysaunny Brito and SS17’s breakout runway star Vittoria Ceretti.
They might not look like they have much in common at first glance – apart from a dominance of the catwalk, Vittoria walked for over 40 shows this season, but all are former Elite Model Look girls.
Founded in 1983, the world’s most prestigious International modelling contest Elite Model Look has launched the careers of countless supermodels including Cindy Crawford, Gisele Bundchen and Alessandra Ambrosio.
Elite Model Management London joined the network of over 30 countries in 2009 and since their participation the contest has been the launching pad for some of today’s most noteworthy homegrown talent, including SS17’s Dior exclusive Ruth Bell.
This year Elite London broke the catwalk mould of previous National finals with a portrait shoot of the 12 finalists chosen from over 2,500 applicants across the UK and Ireland.
Elite Model Look gave Stylist exclusive behind the scenes access on set to contribute to the winning final decision.
The winners will be announced at a private exhibition of the portraits on Thursday the 3rd of November.
The successful two will then go on to represent the UK at the world final held in Lisbon at the legendary Campo Pequeno.
On Thursday the 3rd of November, 200 guests - a mix of the fashion industry’s decision makers, Elite London’s model agents and finalists friends and family - gathered at a unique period building, previously a railway ticket office, in North West London to hear the announcement of Elite Model Look 2016’s winners.
The event space had been transformed into a portrait photographic exhibition of 12 finalists images, photographed by Stylist contributor Anya Holdstock and styled by Lilja Hronn, which showcased the magnified images alongside a film of the shoot, flickering away projected onto the adjacent wall.
The winning two - and if Elite Model Look’s track record is anything to go by, supermodels of the future - are Tallulah Jasper (pictured above), from London and Gideon Yendell (pictured below), from Brighton. Both take home a three year modelling contract with Elite London for winning the UK leg of the National Finals.
We spoke to Tallulah and Gideon following the announcement of their win. Tallulah, who along with modelling is an aspiring writer, is keen to follow in the footsteps of Cara Delevigne for her individuality. Gideon, who also studied performing arts, is eager to travel with his new modelling career.
Tallulah told us she much prefers photoshoots over catwalk shows, saying ‘catwalk shows are very nerve-wracking’. She’ll have some time to practice her runway walk before they are both whisked off to Lisbon to attend the world final of Elite Model Look from the 16th-23rd of November. There they will attend a six day model boot camp to learn all the essential model skills to prepare them for the final show, which will be performed in front of 3,000 guests and televised by Portugal’s leading channel TVI. Previous names that were discovered by Elite Model Look include Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen, Diane Kruger and Lara Stone so we predict big things for Tallulah and Gideon.
Follow their story in Lisbon and watch the live World final event at 8:30pm on the 23rd of November on www.elitemodellook.com
