Duckie Thot could be considered to be one of the luckiest people on the planet purely because she was mentored by Rihanna.

That’s right, the Australian model – who first came to our attention while appearing on Australia’s Next Top Model in 2013 – has been taught a fair few things from one of the most inspirational women on the planet.

“She’s become a mentor to me, and is also a great confidante,” Thot told the Evening Standard in 2017. “She tells me not to take things personally because the business is just that: a business.”

Thot – whose real name is Nyadak Thot – is one of six siblings. Her parents left Sudan to set up a new life in Australia a year before she was born. It wasn’t until Pirelli shot her for its 2018 calendar (photographed by Tim Walker and styled by Edward Enninful) that her career really took off.

She then debuted on the catwalk for Kanye West’s Yeezy label, fronted campaigns for Rihanna’s Fenty fashion and beauty line, and Balmain, too.

And now, Thot has just been announced as a Victoria Secret’s Angel.
