Dior’s sophisticated sportswear is the enduring trend we all want to wear this season

From tracksuits and trainers to tailoring, Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri showed a collection that was as elegant as it was functional, and it’s all we want to wear right now.

The spring/summer 2025 catwalks were awash with sophisticated sports-inspired separates and chic functional accessories. Ferragamo showed zip-up hooded boilersuits in technical fabrics; Miu Miu’s navy, grey and burgundy retro sporty jackets were styled with wide-pleated midi skirts; Lacoste’s lightweight technical trousers and jackets were pepped up with pastel layers; and JW Anderson styled a cosy-cool roomy bomber jacket-sweatshirt hybrid with a neat green shoulder bag and low-key flat ankle boots.

Not to be outdone, Christian Dior’s spring/summer 2025 show was a masterclass in elegant and elevated sportswear. Maria Grazia Chiuri reinvented various pieces from the house’s archive with a focus on feminine strength and functionality. On the designer’s mood board for the season were strong, powerful women, including Diana, the goddess of hunting, and Wonder Woman. Meanwhile, SAGG Napoli, a multidisciplinary artist and archer, designed the space and performed during the show.

Silhouettes were modern: tracksuits, contemporary tailoring, fluid black dresses and modern trench coats were styled with form-hugging bodysuits and leggings. Lightweight skirts, trousers and jackets featured technical closures, and the Dior logo merged into six thin white stripes on the side of trousers, boots, tops and bags.

Accessories were unmistakably sporty: lace-up trainers with logo-detail tongues, mask-style sunglasses, logo-detail headbands and flat boots with side stripes all added a bold, athletic styling twist to the largely black and white looks. The stand-out accessory was the new D-Journey bag, which was worn with long sleeveless dresses layered over wide-leg trousers and collarless moto jackets, suiting and mini skirts with flat over-the-knee boots. A hybrid of elegance and functionality, the crossbody bag, which can also be worn as a shoulder bag, features a roomy central compartment and is embellished with zips for all your daily essentials. The strap is adorned with the initials ‘CD’ on the closure, which shuts and detaches easily.
