The designer fashion items donating 100% of profits to charity for International Women's Day

Buying designer fashion is something few of us embark on lightly.
There tends to be a pattern of falling in love with a mindblowingly gorgeous bag/jumper/whatever and obsessively stalking it on social media. We convince ourselves of all the ways it could enhance our current wardrobe, nay life. Occasionally, we give in to a devil-may-care credit card splurge, rewarded by a euphoric unboxing, then...bang – we’re hit with a guilty comedown over our luxury consumption.
Now, a group of world-renowned female fashion designers has an antidote: seriously gorgeous exclusive investment pieces that donate 100% of profits to charity.
British-based designers Charlotte Olympia, Alice Temperley, Amanda Wakeley, Mary Katrantzou and Alex Eagle have each designed a limited edition item as part of a collaboration with Women for Women International, which helps women survivors of war rebuild their lives, families and communities.
They have given their time, design skills and resources to the charity’s #SheInspiresMe campaign, which launches to coincide with International Women’s Day on March 8 and also follows a month of designers showing their autumn/winter ‘17 collections at Fashion Week.
Katrantzou and Temperley have both chosen to create striking print scarves, while accessories maestro Charlotte Olympia has designed a playful clutch with a sincere message.
As a mother, daughter and sister I want to do my part to make a difference
- Alice Temperley
All money raised from the items will go to helping women who have suffered bereavement, torture and sexual violence as a result of war. The 24-year-old charity supports female survivors by informing them about their rights, as well as providing key life, vocational and business skills to help them break free from poverty.
Brita Fernandez Schmidt, Women for Women International’s executive director, described the designers as inspirational, and said the campaign “celebrates women everywhere”.
We are incredibly excited to be able to harness the life-changing power of fashion to support the most vulnerable women in the world.
- Brita Fernandez Schmidt
